A campaign system for UCLA C-LARAH connecting LGBTQ+ health equity research, Pride visibility, donor outreach, and advisory board engagement across digital, print, and event touchpoints.

Turning Institutional Research Into a Public-Facing Cause
UCLA’s Center for LGBTQ+ Advocacy, Research & Health needed a campaign system that could communicate urgency without losing credibility. The work had to support Pride participation, donor engagement, advisory board recruitment, and broader awareness around LGBTQ+ health equity research.
The strategic approach was to make the campaign feel active, visible, and useful across formats. Instead of treating the identity as a static academic mark, the system used bold typography, direct messaging, and modular EDI graphics to create a flexible language for public health advocacy.

A System Built for Visibility, Fundraising, and Participation
The design system centers on oversized letterforms, high-contrast color, and direct campaign language. The EDI mark gives the department a recognizable visual shorthand, while the typography carries the urgency: join, protect, fund, defend, rebuild. This balance lets the work move between community-facing Pride materials and more formal philanthropic communications.
The campaign extends across physical, digital, and environmental touchpoints: posters, social posts, email templates, landing pages, donor materials, and merchandise. Each piece keeps the same visual DNA, but adapts the tone to the context — celebratory for Pride, clear for event logistics, and more urgent for fundraising.

From Awareness to Action
The strongest part of the campaign is that it does not stop at visibility. The system connects public participation to giving, and giving to deeper involvement through an advisory board. That makes the work more than event promotion — it becomes a structure for support.
